Goat competition

Jim and Debbie Hosley of Norco won five first-place awards in the open pygmy goat competitions at the Orange County Fair. Two of those honors, Grand Champion Doe and Reserve Champion Doe, went to their goats Amber Waves Requiem For A Dream and Amber Waves The Tie That Binds. The couple owns a pygmy goat ranch in Norco called Amber Waves. * * * New volunteers Joane Shamma and Ken Wood of Corona recently graduated from the Volunteer Center of Riverside County's Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program. Graduation requirements included spending 36 hours in the classroom and 10 hours mentoring. Ombudsmen visit licensed long-term care facilities to assure the safety, health and rights of residents aremaintained. Others who graduated were Judith DeLaFuente, John Gillis, Nancy and Mick Minten, Connie Ouellette, Philip Robb, Jean Taylor and Gloria Wike.
